Auto Body Tips from an Automobile Connoisseur

An Auto Body Shop Can Help You Figure Out If Your Car Is Totaled

If you have been in a car accident, there are a lot of things that you are going to have to do deal with. One of them is figuring out what kind of damage that your car has received. For one thing, you are going to have to determine if your car has been totaled or if it's worth repairing. There are ways that this happens. One way you can do that is to have an auto body repair shop look at your car and evaluate it. When they evaluate it, they can give you their estimates on the damage and repair costs and then make sure that it goes to your insurance adjuster to talk about it as well. But, what does it mean for your car to be totaled?

Totaled

Totaled is more of an insurance term than anything else. However, just because it came out of the insurance industry that doesn't mean that it hasn't become a common term. It stands for total loss. It means that the cost of repairing your car is going to be more than the value of your car. Your car doesn't even have to look like it has serious damage for it to be totaled, because it's more about the cost of the repairs. For example, if the frame is damaged, it's going to cost a lot more to fix it and may not be worth it, even if your car doesn't look all that damaged. If there is extensive surface damage, it may look like you had more damage but all that needs to happen is to have the body repaired.

Car Value

The value of your car is determined by a lot of things. How much you paid for it is not one of those things. That's because of depreciation. The things that go into determining the value of your car include the age of your car, the model of your car, and the make of your car.  Other things can affect your car's value too, including what shape the car was in prior to the accident. For example, a 2012 blue Widget Mobile in excellent shape is going to have a higher value than a 2012 blue Widget Mobile that has a lot of dents and dings, mechanical issues, and a messed up interior.

If you have been in a car accident, you are going to need to figure out how much your car is going to cost to be repaired. An auto body repair shop can help you with that by evaluating your car for you.
