National Hispanic Heritage Month\u00a0(HHM) is the period from September 15 to October 15 in the United States, when people recognize the contributions of\u00a0Hispanic and Latino Americans\u00a0to the United States and celebrate the group’s heritage and culture. Hispanic Heritage Week was first proclaimed President\u00a0Lyndon Johnson\u00a0in 1968.<\/p>\n
During National Hispanic Heritage Month, communities celebrate the achievements and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans with community festivals, government-sponsored activities and educational activities for students.<\/p>\n

Latina Health Symposium – September 22, Nampa<\/strong><\/p>\n This event is a unique opportunity for clinicians, public health professionals, community workers and individuals to come together, learn, and discuss health related topics that impact Latina Health. Their vision is to share ideas on culturally competent health care delivery and increase awareness of public health issues that affect the Latina community.<\/p>\n Hispanic Youth Leadership Summit – October 14, Boise<\/strong><\/p>\n This event has been held in the Treasure Valley for the last 10 years. The summit attracts leaders from schools to celebrate our heritage and further empower our communities. The Commission\u2019s summit is the largest gathering of Hispanics in the state of Idaho. The summit brings participants together to develop and\/or strengthen their leadership skills, and enhance their interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Participants will hear from prominent quality speakers and workshop presenters who are highly interactive and experts in their field.<\/p>\n Latino Expo – October 15, Nampa<\/strong><\/p>\n This event showcases Latino products, foods and, most of all, local Hispanic business owners and non-profits. There will be displays of Hispanic culture and products. A portion of the funds raised will go to\u00a0the Hispanic Cultural Center.
